South Carolina Day Trip…Greenwood and McCormick

Our first real local road trip, we left earlier than usual one morning in hunt of a local farmer’s market. Knowing there is one in Augusta, our first thought was, “no way am I heading towards all of the Master’s Golf Tournament traffic.” So first market that popped up on a Google search proved to…

February Musings…

Seems with the spring warm up in Alabama, comes the daily winds and an occasional fierce thunderstorm, sometimes hidden with tornadoes. That’s when hiding behind a sand dune allows uninterrupted reading. I will say, but don’t mark my words…the worse always seems to travel inland, while our more coastal location, we’ve been saved many times. We…

Camp Volunteering Continues…

Our camp volunteering continues, three months already, and we are closing in on our half way point…June always flies for me! Despite continued days of rain…cool breezes and not too much mugginess, we’ve also landed housing in the shade or close to trails of goodness. And while our hours have been on the shorter side…

Route 66 travels and other fun!

We’ve had sunny, warm days and everything is coming alive. Even the swimming pool is beginning to show that beautiful blue color and the green gunk is disappearing.  And we’ve got new friends….morning coffee fun! But it now seems the spring rains have taken over this weekend…sure is keeping the mowers busy week to week!…

WordPress HAPPY again!

I’m back! Despite a WordPress media file “maxed out” crash message and rebuilding the blog, it’s time to catch up! We’re settling into life as a camp volunteer and feeling pretty lucky to have scored such an ideal assignment! Can’t believe we’ve already hit the beginning of eight weeks and the warm up is arriving!…

I know a strong statement but right about now, we wish we could just fly away! And weren’t parked in a DRY county!!! Let’s get down to the dirty details and then you can read about days in central Arkansas! We are contemplating our options, knowing it will change once we hit our appointment next…

The final days outside Branson! (Missouri/Arkansas)

MOO!!! Hey guys, did you miss me?! It was our last day outside Branson, MO and we decided to make one last walking tour on the trails and grounds of the College of the Ozarks. While we anticipated taking advantage of a month long rate, three weeks was well enough in this area.  We were…

Another National Battlefield and some Italian goodness! (Missouri)

We busted out of dodge and headed North for the day. Destination…Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield but not after a stop or two in Springfield, Missouri. We took a quick run through a RV show … nice collection with about six dealers with their inventory. Still drawn to the Keystone Alpine 5vr someday, but not making any…

Just across the river from Illinois! (Kentucky)

Sunday night….one more night until the Blood Moon!  Will we be up to watch it? Best viewing is from 3:07-4:25 am so doubtful but if I roll over and awaken, I’m still hopeful!  Following the hashtag #eclipse for all the latest! It’s been a whirlwind the last couple of days.  Seems like it was back and…

Moving right along…and a little bit of history! (Tennessee)

We left the parking lot of Bonita Lakes RV park….yes, it’s really just a gravel with concrete pad stopover!  We are geared up to get back to the woods…next stop Pickwick Landing State Park, Counce, TN! Jerry laughs at me the whole way….”With all your electronics, there you sit with a map in your lap!” …
