February Musings…

Seems with the spring warm up in Alabama, comes the daily winds and an occasional fierce thunderstorm, sometimes hidden with tornadoes. That’s when hiding behind a sand dune allows uninterrupted reading. I will say, but don’t mark my words…the worse always seems to travel inland, while our more coastal location, we’ve been saved many times. We…

Awaiting Mardi Gras!

We flew through January, the snowbirds hit the area, temps wandered downward, and now it’s February! We’ve continued to pass time combing the beach and exploring the area through lower Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. I imagine there is more to many than a day at the beach but it’s a place we continue to…

One month later…Tupelo to Gulf Shores!

The first week of November, 2015 and already we’ve spent numerous hours with our feet dug in the white sand, under an umbrella, yakking with the locals, and mesmerized by the waves. Pelicans, dolphins, an occasional shark, stingrays, and plenty of other marine life to keep us captivated. Even warm enough to get in and…

Camp Volunteering Continues…

Our camp volunteering continues, three months already, and we are closing in on our half way point…June always flies for me! Despite continued days of rain…cool breezes and not too much mugginess, we’ve also landed housing in the shade or close to trails of goodness. And while our hours have been on the shorter side…

Six months later…we got some FAMILY time!!!

Passing time still in Gulf Shores…no complaints, as this coastal life continues to grow on us. Some might say we’re just snowbirds now as seems if we’re not in the Midwest, we’re in southern AL running for the beach! Like gulls waiting for our next meal, this has worked for us right now. We missed…

Life can be a zoo or not, while we monkey around! (Gulf Shores, AL)

Wide window shades fully open, more blue skies, and lots of sunshine. This has been one fine month for December, 2014! I hope I’m not repeating myself. As if I’m not forgetting what I logged last time, there are the posts I already made to Facebook and Instagram. Guess if one app goes south, the…

Another day…beach side 60s and sunny! (Gulf Shores, AL)

Memories, plus I Love Lucy, and the holidays!  You know….I miss Adene!  Tears of joy…xxxxoooo Other news, yeah rah….humidity down, windows open, cool breeze allowing for…

BEACH, beach, beach…. (Alabama)

We changed up our beach visit today…today we set in for the sunset route! Stopping at Rouse’s NOLA Cajun market for snacks and a chilled bottle of wine!! We keep the beach gear at our ready…a packed back seat! Our favorite beach entry… Palm trees in a mild breeze, 3:30 pm, temp 66… Our landing…sweatshirts…

COLD, cold, cold! (Alabama)

Whew, it was a low 24 this morning! That was a freak attack, but seeing high 70 in two days with a low in the 50s. Much better! We learned the drill last year so we tarped the water connections, plugged in the diesel, threw on the “magic blanket” and cuddled up watching 60 INCHES…

Chicken Soup for the Soul…beachside! (Alabama)

“For whatever we lose (like a you or a me), It’s always our self we find in the sea.” – e.e. Cummings Been taking time to watch the tides move the sand with mind settling designs. The waves come in hard and steady, the next day calm and gentle as a slow moving river! We…

Alive and kicking! (Alabama)

We’re still alive and kicking and we turned the corner back to where else – the Gulf coast! Now this wasn’t planned….we have this nasty water leak as you may know and we’re almost at point where the dealer is going to uncover the whole mystery!!! We left Hattiesburg and headed south to Gulfport, MS…

Life sucks at Toad Suck!

I know a strong statement but right about now, we wish we could just fly away! And weren’t parked in a DRY county!!! Let’s get down to the dirty details and then you can read about days in central Arkansas! We are contemplating our options, knowing it will change once we hit our appointment next…
