Thanksgiving, to the start of Advent!

There are still a few Monarch stragglers…and I wonder each time I notice one, “Will they miss the migration and be too late?!”  I sure hope not! The beach continues to be our escape from the RV park.  And we both have to say this has been our best Fall here in Alabama yet. Mr….

One month later…Tupelo to Gulf Shores!

The first week of November, 2015 and already we’ve spent numerous hours with our feet dug in the white sand, under an umbrella, yakking with the locals, and mesmerized by the waves. Pelicans, dolphins, an occasional shark, stingrays, and plenty of other marine life to keep us captivated. Even warm enough to get in and…

Six months later…back on the road to Alabama!

After six months completing a camp volunteer gig at Double J Campground in Chatham, IL, we are back on the road! Jimmy landed and I knew all would be good! We’ve had dragonflies, hummingbirds and lastly, this adorable grasshopper land before take off time…I took it as a sign! Our final days, we took in…

Almost the end to our Camp Volunteer gig!

First foremost, I’m trying to muster one-handed pecking on this laptop. You see, I’m injured! Fired up some tunes last week, threw in my ear buds, started my Runskeeper app, and took to the gravel lanes of the RV park to get my walking laps in. BANG!!!! Second lap, I hit the road face down….

One month later, still hanging in Illinois!

Sometimes it feels like we just got here…most days it’s “when do we get to leave?!” But camp store hours seem to come and go, week by week and days off are like gold. We learn more and more what a camp volunteering gig can contribute to one’s substance in life. There have been ups…

TWO years bite the dust…next up, year 3!

This is the week Mr. Jer and I remember as our coming out! We sold it all and hit the road July 17, 2013!  Now here we are again…back in Illinois! It seems so long ago I was writing about our first year, now I get to recap the second! Still enjoying life as a…

Camp Volunteering Continues…

Our camp volunteering continues, three months already, and we are closing in on our half way point…June always flies for me! Despite continued days of rain…cool breezes and not too much mugginess, we’ve also landed housing in the shade or close to trails of goodness. And while our hours have been on the shorter side…

Route 66 travels and other fun!

We’ve had sunny, warm days and everything is coming alive. Even the swimming pool is beginning to show that beautiful blue color and the green gunk is disappearing.  And we’ve got new friends….morning coffee fun! But it now seems the spring rains have taken over this weekend…sure is keeping the mowers busy week to week!…

WordPress HAPPY again!

I’m back! Despite a WordPress media file “maxed out” crash message and rebuilding the blog, it’s time to catch up! We’re settling into life as a camp volunteer and feeling pretty lucky to have scored such an ideal assignment! Can’t believe we’ve already hit the beginning of eight weeks and the warm up is arriving!…

Discovering local parks! (Central IL)

Despite the ups and downs of not so nice weather, we’re settling into our camp volunteer gig quite nicely! I can check someone in almost fast as lightning and have mastered the camp store cash register with only one boo boo! Mr. Jer makes a fine escort (just saying) and is officially trained to fill propane. We’ve…

Back through Mississippi to our summer gig in Illinois!

Like two lost souls just floating around on the pond…contemplating life! We’ve made it to our summer destination from Gulf Shores, AL, alive and kicking. Both the Ford diesel and RV ran like the berries and we were super impressed with their performance. I guess a new computer and alternator kicked things up…pulled like it…

Bye Bye Gulf Shores! Off to western AL!

We got the green light and it was time to prep, say good-byes, and hit the highway! First up, good-byes to our friends Tom and Madelyn who spent a month in our park. They were the icing on the cake to our last month, not to forget their niece and husband, Angie and Jeff, tickling…
