Park Maintenance ++ other fun…

Snowbird season is coming to end…and we’ve crossed the bridge to those on spring break, with summer families soon on the rise! It’s been an adjustment having my other half off at work again, while I’m tending to the rv home front and making sure I feed us well! Starting with breakfast…or when I run…

Off the Road…

Spring is in air and summer will soon be rolling in. I imagine the days of bonfires and chilly days with a hoodie will soon come to an end. Yes, it’s me…writing from south Alabama. Let me back track a bit. Mr. Jer and I continued to roll with the punches since my last post…

How quickly life can change…to IL and back!

First, foremost a catch up to weeks gone past…the before, than the after. We put in our time at our COE gate house over the last weekends of May, namely Memorial weekend for one! That one wild roller coaster. Our day use became so full, the rangers had to shut the park down twice. Our…

Search and discovery…more of GA and SC!

When our day shifts at the gate house are over and we’re not being lazy or resting our paws, maybe even plopped out on some tree limb like these dudes, we go out searching new discoveries! Sometimes it just a quick run to the north side of Augusta, GA and the burb of Evans or…

Living and volunteering on the GA/SC line!

No, it’s not the Little House on the Prairie… Just one of the sights when you take down the back roads of SC/GA, feeling out the neighborhood! Since our gatehouse was not scheduled to open yet, the ranger found tasks to help us learn more about the area and help assist with a few minor…

South Carolina Day Trip…Greenwood and McCormick

Our first real local road trip, we left earlier than usual one morning in hunt of a local farmer’s market. Knowing there is one in Augusta, our first thought was, “no way am I heading towards all of the Master’s Golf Tournament traffic.” So first market that popped up on a Google search proved to…

Farewell Gulf Shores, AL…off to GA!

Snowbirds were disappearing by the dozens…we watched the calendar knowing it would be soon be time to pack up and leave the Gulf Shores area of Alabama! What’s always felt like our little bit of Paradise, it would soon be biding us a good-bye! It was time to take down the camp and find homes…

Countdown to the end of March…

We are on our countdown to take-off from Gulf Shores, Alabama, soon heading out for our summer gig at a COE park. More on that when we get moved and life arises!  Totally beyond excited!! We continue to be content in this coastal region and days and weeks have gone fast. Both of us managing…

February Musings…

Seems with the spring warm up in Alabama, comes the daily winds and an occasional fierce thunderstorm, sometimes hidden with tornadoes. That’s when hiding behind a sand dune allows uninterrupted reading. I will say, but don’t mark my words…the worse always seems to travel inland, while our more coastal location, we’ve been saved many times. We…

Awaiting Mardi Gras!

We flew through January, the snowbirds hit the area, temps wandered downward, and now it’s February! We’ve continued to pass time combing the beach and exploring the area through lower Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. I imagine there is more to many than a day at the beach but it’s a place we continue to…

Holidays over…onto 2016!

December…we survived the festivities. We saw reminders of Santa here and there.  Trees made from crab pots at the weekly farmer’s market! There were the lighted parades, on sea and land! Many floats gearing us up for the upcoming Mardi Gras…some were even throwing the beads! There were days lounging while working out some gift…

Thanksgiving, to the start of Advent!

There are still a few Monarch stragglers…and I wonder each time I notice one, “Will they miss the migration and be too late?!”  I sure hope not! The beach continues to be our escape from the RV park.  And we both have to say this has been our best Fall here in Alabama yet. Mr….
